Manton Thoroughbreds V Launched

We are pleased to announce our new 6 colt partnership for the 2020 season.

They are currently at Manton with Brian Meehan.

The partnership is made up of 6 colts by the following stallions: Holy Roman Emperor, Camacho, Kodiac, No Nay Never. Dragon Pulse and Zoffany.

Holy Roman Emperor x Champagne Mistress (Kyllachy)

Bought from GoffsUK this colt looks sharp, he is the 3rd foal who’s brother has won two races since we bought this colt now rated 94.

Holy Roman Emperor has been a great stallion for us, he is a reliable proven source of winners. This is also a close cross to Group 1 winner Glorious Empire.

Camacho x Kayak (Singspiel)

This colt was bought from Goffs Orby sale from a fantastic breeder in Ballylinch Stud, a once vendor to Brian of the dual Group 1 winner Red Rocks.

He was a stand out athlete at the sale and would hails from a very strong page, his sister Lady Kaya was 2nd in the 1000 Guineas 2019 and would have carried on to be a Group 1 winner herself if it was not for an unfortunate accident on the gallops after the race.

He is physically strong and well balanced. The stallion is going from strength to strength and I think this colt could be very exciting.

Kodiac x Shared Experience (Ravens Pass)

The stallion needs no introduction a leading source of two year olds and stakes winners year in year out. This colt has the stamp of his father, he has a great mind and physically has done nothing but thrive since going into training.

Ravens Pass being the dam sire will add plenty of scope into him also and he would likely take a little more time.

No Nay Never x Echo Charlie (Tertullian)

Another colt by a proven stallion who stands at €150,000 this year, only 3 crops to have race he has produced a number of top class performers.

This is another bought from the GoffsUK sale, he looks sharp we won’t be waiting too long to find out just how good he is.

He has a fantastic pedigree, two champions in Echelon and Entrepreneur as well as a number of Group 1 winners, this will be the first foal to race out of the mare.

Dragon Pulse x Back In The Frame (Dutch Art)

This colt was bought from Tattersalls Book 2, although the stallion may not be as sexy as the others in the syndicate he proves himself with the number of winners he produces. Last year he was running on a 57% strike rate winners/runners better than most in the catalogue.

To match these stats he was a colt that really caught the eye, he walked very well and looks like a very nice individual.

Zoffany x Gale Song (Invincible Spirit)

He is a cracking colt by a stallion that had a great season highlighted by two year old Prix Marcel Boussac winner Albigna.

We have had a lot of success with this stallion with horses such as Dominus and Petrus this year winning 5 races between them.

Invincible Spirit being the broodmare sire will out speed and quality into him.

He is the first foal out of the mare who clearly throws a very good foal as this colt seems to have a lot of quality.

An exciting year ahead for Manton Thoroughbreds

Manton Thoroughbreds II and III embark into what looks to be a very exciting year.

Manton Thoroughbreds II’s star Barraquero has done very well since his time off, he has been brought gradually up to speed and is looking a picture of health.

His win in the Richmond Stakes Group 2 was very impressive, the form out of the race has been strong with Nebo winning a Group 3 and Headway winning a recent Listed race.

After a slight set back it was our decision to put him away for the season with a fresh start in 2018 the target.

A French Guineas entry has been made with the Greenham at Newbury very much our target for his start.

Now handicapped Soldier’s Bay is expected to build on his 3 progressive runs as a two year old and will look to kick off his season with a winning start.

3 other horses remain unraced Brexiteer (Zoffany), Malangen (Born To Sea) and Eternal Frame (Dutch Art) will be flying the Green and Blue flag soon enough.

Manton Thoroughbreds III, have 6 two year old colts to go to battle with. 2 bought from Doncaster a Zebedee colt and an Acclamation, the Zebedee looks nice and sharp it would be very exciting if he could live up to the benchmark Barraquero (Zebedee) has set.

From Goffs we bought a Holy Roman Emperor, this proven sire is a fantastic source of winners which make great trade horses, he is a good looking colt that would attract the attention of certain export routes should he win a race or two.

The remaining horses were bought from Tattersalls, a Charm Spirit that was infact partly owned by Brians new assistant James Ferguson lets hope he can reward us for our purchase. A Dandy Man and an Archipenko were also acquired, the former looks sharp and the latter just might be one for next year.

A lot to look forward to for all those involved.
